JOB TITLE: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN-INTERN
COMPENSATION: $16 PER HOUR FOR 100 TOTAL HOURS (NO BENEFITS)

JOB SUMMARY: This position aids with support on County systems to end users on a variety of issues. This role also involves new user and hardware setup and support. In addition, this individual will assist other Information Technology Staff as assigned and will report directly to the Information Technology Director and Deputy Director.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Respond to telephone calls, emails and personnel requests for technical support
• Works to resolve Help Desk tickets submitted by users in a reasonable timeframe as assigned
• Assist in identifying, research, and resolving technical problems
• Supports mobile computers such as tablets and laptops
• Tests and implement various desktop installation configurations to maximize uptime and to identify and resolve software/hardware conflicts
• Assists technicians in setting up and imaging desktops and mobile hardware as needed
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines in county IT Policy to perform the functions of the job
• Maintain current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology
• Instruct users on new or upgraded applications and hardware
• Ensures confidentiality of information and records and complies with record retention schedule
• Complies with safety programs, policies, and works safely
• Adhere to the Worcester County Government Personnel Rules & Regulations; and work in a pleasant and harmonious manner with co-workers and the public
• Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Self-starter highly motivated individual required, team player who can adapt to changes in end user requirements
• Must be able to prioritize work and manage multiple competing demands
• Ability to perform duties independently and willingness to work as part of a team
• Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Windows 10 to current
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including but not limited to Microsoft Office
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to perform manual physical labor including frequent walking, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 40 lbs
• Requires valid Maryland drivers’ license and driving record of less than 4 points (MD) for operation of County vehicles to support remote County offices
• Experience with server systems to include MS Exchange, MS Active Directory, and experience in a virtual server environment
• Job may require some minor travel within the county
